In the digital world, kids can be anywhereDOJ Launches Campaign To Protect Children Online
DOJ has launched a public service announcement (PSA) campaign  to educate parents on the risks children face online and warn potential online predators of the serious criminal charges awaiting those who victimize children. The PSAs were developed jointly by OJJDP and Project Safe Childhood partners.

Juvenile Arrests 2006

Co-occurrence of Substance Use Behaviors in Youth
This Office of Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention bulletin examines the prevalence and overlap of substance-related behaviors among youth. Based on data collected from the National Longitudinal Survey of Youth, it finds that one substance-related behavior increases the likelihood of other substance-related behaviors. (NCJ 219239)

Policing Terrorism: An Executive's Guide
This Office of Community Oriented Policing Services guide provides guidance on the essential components of a counterterrorism plan: developing intelligence, indentifying and protecting major targets, and expanding disaster response capabilities. It is directed toward police, sheriffs, and other senior executives in agencies with limited resources. This publication also contains 50 briefs focusing on terrorism prevention and preparedness. Conference Provides Batterer Intervention Strategies
On May 12-15, 2009, the Intervening with Men Who Batter Conference will be held in Minneapolis, Minnesota. Bridging Perspectives and NIJ, the conference sponsors, have issued a Call for Presenters. Applications must be received by November 14, 2008.

ONDCP Premiers Redesigned National Youth Anti-Drug Media Campaign Web Site
ONDCP announces its redesigned Media Campaign Web site, which features a new look, updated content, and easier access to ads. The Stay Connected section includes links to newsletters and print resources. The Resources section includes links to Campaign Web sites and publications and to a substance abuse treatment facility locator map.

Networking Opportunity Available for Criminal Justice Editors
The Criminal Justice Editors Group, available through NCJRS, is a network of more than 130 editors of national, state, and local periodicals, sharing information from the NCJRS sponsoring agencies and network members on a regular basis. Editors then share these resources with their respective readerships. Membership is free.

Jails in Indian Country, 2007
This Bureau of Justice Statistics (BJS) bulletin presents findings from the 2007 Survey of Jails in Indian Country, an enumeration of 83 jails, confinement facilities, detention centers, and other facilities operated by tribal authorities or the Bureau of Indian Affairs. (NCJ 223760)

Save the Date for 2009 SMART Symposium
The 2009 National Symposium on Sex Offender Management and Accountability will be held April 21-23, 2009, in Houston, Texas. This annual symposium is offered as part of the SMART Office's efforts to provide jurisdictions with training as they move toward implementation of Title I of the Adam Walsh Child Protection and Safety Act, the Sex Offender Registration and Notification Act.
